Slim Whitman’s Successful Career and Legacy
Slim Whitman was an American singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist known for his yodeling and falsetto. He had a net worth of $50 million and sold over 120 million records in his career. Whitman toured with Elvis Presley and held a Guinness World Record for his hit single “Rose Marie” which stayed at #1 on the UK Singles Chart for a long time.
Whitman released 51 albums and had success in Europe, especially in the UK where his albums Red River Valley and Home on the Range reached #1 and #2 on the charts respectively. He had many popular singles such as “Indian Love Call” and “I’ll Take You Home Again, Kathleen!”
Whitman was recognized for his contributions to music and was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s Walkway of the Stars in 1968. He passed away in 2013 at the age of 90 from heart failure.
